| Receiving and Reading Your Messages When a message is received, your pager alerts and displays a flashing triangle symbol. Press any button to stop the alert. Press the READ button (see above) to display your message. The pager automatically stores the message and the time/date it is received. A flashing arrow points down, at the bottom right corner of the screen indicates the message you are reading continues beyond the four lines of the display. Press the READ button to advance to the next screen of the message. Press DOWN DIRECTION button (see above) to read your message line by line. Press and hold the READ button to rapidly scroll through your message, screen by screen. If more than one message exists, press LEFT/RIGHT button to select the message you want to read. While reading your messages you can press LEFT/RIGHT button to view the previous or next message. A flashing DOT IN CIRCLE (see above) indicates you have a message that has not been read. The pager alerts at predetermined intervals to remind you of any unread messages. Press the FUNCTION SELECT button to display the function menu. This menu gives you access to the many features of your pager through a series of symbols and prompts. To EXIT from ANY menu without changes, press READ button. The pager's backlight illuminates in low-light conditions when any button is pressed. You can manually activate or deactivate the backlight at any time by pressing and holding the FUNCTION button for two seconds. If no other buttons are pressed, the backlight automatically turns off when the pager returns to the standby mode. Locking and Unlocking Messages Up to 10 messages can be locked in memory, preventing them from being replaced when memory is full. Press the READ button. Press the LEFT/RIGHT directional button to select the message to lock. Press FUNCTION button to display the function menu. Press RIGHT DIRECTIONAL button to move the cursor to lock or unlock. Press the FUNCTION button to lock or unlock the message. The symbol (see above) lock/unlock is displayed, indicating the status of the message in memory. Press the FUNCTION button to display the function menu. Press the LEFT DIRECTIONAL button to move the cursor to the clock symbol (see above). Press the FUNCTION button to display the set-time screen. Press the RIGHT DIRECTIONAL button to move the cursor to the hour digit. Press the UP/DOWN button to adjust the hour. Press the RIGHT DIRECTIONAL button to move the cursor to the minute digit. Press the UP/DOWN button to adjust the minute. Repeat the process for each set of digits : AM/PM/24 hr., month/day/year. Press the FUNCTION button to activate the time and date change. The alarm on your pager can be set for a specific time and date, or it can be used as a daily alarm. To set the alarm for a specific time and date: Press the FUNCTION button to display the function menu. Press the LEFT DIRECTIONAL button to move the cursor the the clock symbol. Press the FUNCTION button to display the set-time-and-alarm screen. Press the DOWN DIRECTIONAL button to move the cursor to the alarm bell symbol. (see above) The alarm symbol defines the alarm status. Enabled shows " " around the bell symbol and Disables shows a line through the bell symbol. (see above) Press the RIGHT DIRECTIONAL button to move the cursor to the bell or alarm symbol. Press the UP/DOWN DIRECTIONAL button to enable or disable the alarm. Press the RIGHT DIRECTIONAL button to move the cursor to the hour digit. Repeat the process for each entry: minute, am/pm, and date. Press the FUNCTION button to activate your selection. the bell symbol is shown on the display. At the selected time, your pager emits a 12 second audible alert even if the pager is in the silent mode. To set the alarm to alert daily: Follow the steps previously described, except when setting the date, press the DOWN DIRECTIONAL button for the date entries until you see a blank month, day and year (--/--/--). The alarm is now set to alert every day at this specified time. This feature allows you to set a one-time or a daily alarm for a particular personal message. You can set an alarm for up to five personal messages. To set a on-time message alarm: Press the READ button. Press the LEFT/RIGHT DIRECTIONAL button to select the message you want to alarm. Press the FUNCTION button to display the function menu. Press the RIGHT DIRECTIONAL button to move the cursor to the bell symbol. Press the FUNCTION button to display the set-message-alarm screen. When the screen is first displayed, the cursor is at the far left position. This symbol defines the alarm status as mentioned above. From the set-message-alarm screen, follow the same steps described in Setting the Alarm. To set a daily message alarm: Follow the instructions above to set the alarm time then follow the instructions in "to set the alarm to alert daily" in Setting the Alarm section above. The alert can be set as either audible or silent. Press the FUNCTION button to display the function menu. Press the LEFT DIRECTIONAL button to move the cursor to the Audible alert symbol (see above). This symbol is displayed if the pager is in the silent alert mode (prompting you to enter the audible mode, if desired) Press the FUNCTION button to select the desired alert mode. If the selected mode is audible your pager emits a short chirp. If the selected mode is silent and your pager is equipped with a vibrator, your pager vibrates. |
The pager must be in the audible alert mode to select the alert pattern. Your pager has a standard alert (1), seven different pleasing alerts (2 through 8), and a chirping alert (music note), allowing you to select and change the alert. You can also select no alert. To change your alert: Press the FUNCTION button to display the function menu. Press the LEFT DIRECTIONAL button to move the cursor to music note (see above), then press the FUNCTION button. Press the LEFT/RIGHT DIRECTIONAL button to move the cursor to the desired alert. The pager gives a sample of each alert when scrolling through the selections. Press the FUNCTION button to activate the alert. Maildrop and Information Service Option If your pager is equipped with the maildrop option, also known as information service, messages are received and read the same way as personal messages. Maildrop messages are located on the second row of the display. If the pager alert is set to Audible, the maildrop alert is a single chirp. If the pager alert is set to Silent, the maildrop alert is a short vibration. If the pager alert is set to No message alert (in the pleasing alerts menu) there is no audible or vibrate maildrop alert. Pleasing alerts cannot be set for maildrop messages. To turn a maildrop alert on or off: Press the READ button. Press the LEFT/RIGHT DIRECTIONAL OR DOWN button to move the cursor to the desired maildrop. Press the FUNCTION button to display the function menu. Press the RIGHT DIRECTIONAL button to move the cursor to the alert ON or OFF symbol displayed in the function menu. You can delete an unlocked and un-alarmed message from memory while you are viewing the message or through the function menu. To delete messages using the function menu: Press LEFT/RIGHT DIRECTIONAL button to select the message you want to delete from memory. Press the FUNCTION button to display the function menu. Press the RIGHT DIRECTIONAL button to move the cursor to Delete symbol (see above). Press the FUNCTION button to receive confirmation of the request. Press the FUNCTION button to delete the message. To delete all unlocked, un-alarmed and read messages from memory: Press the FUNCTION button to display the function menu. Press the RIGHT DIRECTIONAL button to move the cursor to DELETE ALL MESSAGE symbol (see above) Press the FUNCTION button twice. All unlocked, un-alarmed and read messages are now deleted. Moving Messages to Your NotebooksYour pager has two notebook areas: a personal notebook for storing personal messages, and a maildrop notebook for storing information service messages. To store a message in your personal notebook: Press the READ button. Press LEFT/RIGHT DIRECTIONAL button to move the cursor to select the message you desire to move into the personal notebook. Press the FUNCTION button to display the function menu. Press the RIGHT DIRECTIONAL button to move the cursor to ADD TO NOTEBOOK symbol (see above) in right top corner of display. Press the FUNCTION button to move the message into personal notebook. To store message in maildrop notebook: Follow the same steps as described for personal notebook messages. The ADD TO NOTEBOOK symbol will show in the second row, right hand corner of display. Deleting Messages from Your Notebooks Press the RIGHT DIRECTIONAL button to move the cursor to ADD TO NOTEBOOK symbol. Press the READ button to display a list of notebook messages. Press the UP/DOWN DIRECTIONAL button to scroll through the list until ● is displayed at the notebook message you want to delete. Press the FUNCTION button to display the function menu. Press the RIGHT DIRECTIONAL button to move the cursor to DELETE MESSAGE symbol (see above). Press the FUNCTION button to confirm the delete request. Press the FUNCTION button to delete the message. Repeat steps to delete each message. Press the FUNCTION button to display the function menu. Press the LEFT DIRECTIONAL button to move the cursor to SET AUTO ON/OFF symbol (see above). Press the FUNCTION button to display the auto on/off screen. When the screen is first displayed, the cursor is at the farthest left position. The ENABLED or DISABLED symbol (see above) indicates the current status. Press the UP or DOWN DIRECTIONAL button to select ENABLED or DISABLED symbol. Press the RIGHT DIRECTIONAL button to move the cursor to the hour digit. The Auto On time is displayed on the left and the Auto Off time is displayed on the right. Repeat the process for each set of digits for both the on time and the off time. Press the FUNCTION button to activate Auto On/Off. The battery gauge indicator is located on the status screen and keeps you informed of the battery energy level. The five indicators range from full to low. When this option is enabled, and the pager is in the audible or silent mode, a "click" is emitted whenever a button is pressed. The click is not heard when the pager is in the no alert mode. If the same message is received more than once, DUPLICATE MESSAGE is displayed at the beginning of the new message. The new message contains the latest time and date stamp. With this option enabled, the OUT OF RANGE symbol is displayed (see above) when your pager is located outside of your paging coverage area. When returned to paging coverage area, the symbol is no longer displayed. The ERROR DATA symbol (see above) displays when potentially corrupt data is received. The indicator alternates with the corrupted character.
